VALLE (Aftenposten): VIF received help from a generous Rosenborg when they got a ticket to Ullevaal.
Valerenga 4-0 Rosenborg
Errors had rife in much of the settlement. But it was no less delightful for the Vålerenga players when the final signal sounded in Saturday’s cup semi-final against Rosenborg.
They had crushed their rivals.
Last year’s league champions have had a disappointing season. But after the game against Rosenborg, smiles were back in place.
“We will win the final!” the VIF fans sang. One of the crucial players was the summer signing of Thea Bjelde. He scored the 2-0 goal.
– It’s amazing to be here today, he said after the game.
Has struck back
Because it felt a little more delicious just because of Bjelde. It hasn’t been long since things were a lot heavier for her. 2019 was to be his decisive year at Arna-Bjørnar. But earlier in the season, he tore his cruciate ligament. It was a long and difficult period on the sidelines. Last year, however, it was again in full swing for Arna-Bjørnar. She impressed VIF so much that they contacted her for a transfer this summer. Her ambitions led her to say yes.
The score against RBK was the fourth so far in the VIF kit. Everyone has come to the cup for the attacking midfielder. Being able to contribute to the cup final ticket so soon after the serious injury felt great.
– There are things like this that you look forward to after smoking the cruciate ligament and being out for a year. That’s what we’re working for, said the 21-year-old.
Rehabilitation after injury was made easier by the fact that she thrives in the strength room. The history of the twists has contributed to that. And the transition to VIF has been pleasant. It helped that Rikke Nygard is in the club as well. Bjelde was living with the Nygard family when they moved to Bergen when she was 16 years old. On Saturday, the two friends were able to cheer on the cup final.
A lot in the pot
Last year, VIF and RBK battled for the league title until the last round, winning the former.
This season has been more difficult for the Oslo team. The reigning champions of the league are hooked on the gold medal match. Rosenborg are the closest team to league leaders Sandviken, but there are many indications that the title will be too difficult for them as well.
Thus, the semifinal on Saturday was very important for both teams.
VIF won the cup last year. They wanted to defend that triumph.
Early scoring after loss of concert
There was a great distance between the spectators in Intility Arena. In the opening minutes, there was little pressure both there and on the artificial turf.
But then VIF made it 1-0 by Agnete Nilsen, after the RBK goalkeeper spent too much time on the ball and punched in it.
Then there was also some life in the home of the fans who attended.
VIF was a little better on the margins. Nilsen duped an RBK defender on the brink. It focused on Janni Thomsen, which ended. The shot was blocked, but the ball ended up in the hands of Bjelde. The angle was tricky, but the summer signing turned at five and sent his shot into the corner.
Rikke Marie Madsen and Marie Dølvik Markussen made it 3- and 4-0 just before the end.
Thus, Lillestrøm or Sandviken await in Ullevaal on October 31. The two meet on Sunday.
