Covid: towards a 3rd dose for those over 40

While the Covid-19 epidemic is experiencing a new rebound in metropolitan France, health authorities recommend expanding the scope of populations eligible for a vaccine booster dose to those 40 and over, according to a press release on Friday.

The High Authority for Health (HAS) recommends doing this booster six months after the primary vaccination, “the latest studies indeed suggest a benefit for this age group”.

Today in France, to counter the decline in vaccine effectiveness over time, only people over 65 and people at risk of severe disease should receive a booster dose (most often a third dose). From December 15, it will be necessary to extend their health pass.

From December 1, this booster dose will be available to 50-64 year olds. For the other age groups, recall was not on the agenda until now.
