Coronavirus – Riots in The Hague: seven rioters arrested, five police officers injured

(Belga) Riot police were deployed to The Hague on Saturday evening to “restore public order”, Dutch police confirmed.

Rioters fired fireworks and destroyed traffic lights in the Schilderswijk district. Police arrested a total of seven people. Five policemen were injured. One of them suffered a concussion as well as a knee injury and had to be taken to hospital by ambulance. In addition to riot police, mounted police, bicycle officers and police dogs were also deployed. Two police riders sustained hearing damage. Two officers were also injured in the hand. New scenes of clashes took place on Saturday evening in several cities in the Netherlands. Calls for a rally have been launched on social networks and fireworks have been fired in the direction of the police in a few places. Clashes between police and demonstrators began in Rotterdam on Friday evening, in protest against health measures. (Belga)
