During the night of Saturday 20 to Sunday 21 November, gendarmes were targeted by gunfire in a camp based in Lesparre-Médoc (Gironde). Three minors and one adult were taken into custody.
At around 10:30 p.m., the gendarmes arrived at a camp on the outskirts of the city for a burning vehicle.
On this area, of nearly 3,000m2, lived two branches of the same family.
While all was calm, the intervention changed when a vehicle entered a path.
The gendarmes were then targeted during a shooting that lasted nearly an hour, according to information from France 3.
Between 150 and 200 ammunition would have been fired according to the first observations, “in particular on the vehicles of the gendarmerie”. No officer was injured.
Sunday morning, the gendarmes returned to the scene to arrest four members of the same family, who were taken into police custody for “attempted murder against persons holding public authority”. The suspects aged 15, 16, 17 and 25 will be referred next Tuesday to the Bordeaux prosecutor’s office.
