A man posing as a VTC driver was arrested in Paris along with three suspected accomplices. They are believed to have drugged clients with GHB before robbing them. In total, 14 victims have been identified in different districts of Paris.
It all started in September 2021. At the exit of a nightclub, a man claims to have been the victim of theft of bank cards for damage of more than 18,000 euros. The victim, relieved of all his belongings and his money, realized the trap set by an individual posing as a VTC driver. The latter allegedly drugged his passenger at GHB by offering him a whiskey.
The complaint, filed by the victim, allowed the investigation and investigation brigade of the 10th arrondissement police station to conduct research.
14 identified victims
Another victim has been identified. She had her keys stolen and her apartment was robbed for damages estimated at 48,000 euros. In total, fourteen victims were identified in several districts of the capital, namely the 9th, 10th and 17th arrondissements.
On Wednesday November 24, the bogus driver and his three accomplices were arrested. They are between 27 and 50 years old according to initial information. The searches led to the discovery of a bottle containing GHB hidden in the car. Several luxury watches, pairs of designer shoes as well as 7,500 euros in cash were seized.
