Meghan Markle: why did Prince Harry change his engagement ring?

Prince Harry and his wife Meghan announced their engagement to the world four years ago today. On this occasion, the Duke of Sussex gave his wife a special ring.

This is not a new ring to complete the Duchess’s collection but her engagement ring redesigned with some modifications, reveals the Mirror. The Duke of Sussex probably took advantage of the pregnancy of Meghan Markle, who pregnant with Lilibet could no longer wear her ring, to have it altered.

Thus, the ring, which belonged to Harry’s mother, Lady Diana, has been refined to better match the Duchess of Sussex’s wedding ring. The idea being that the two jewels can sublimate each other.

However, this is not the first time that this ring has undergone changes. The latter occur most of the time at key moments in the couple’s life. Two and a half years ago the jewel had been modified to accommodate three stones. A peridot, a sapphire and an emerald, which represent the birthstones of the Duke and Duchess as well as their son Archie. In May 2019, Prince Harry had already had gems added.

On November 27, 2017, Harry and Meghan announced their engagement from Kensington Palace. The couple have since abandoned their royal duties to settle in the United States, angering the British people and the royal family.
