Presidential 2022. The president of Seine-Saint-Denis opposes the meeting of Eric Zemmour in Villepinte

The PS president of the departmental council of Seine-Saint-Denis Stéphane Troussel launched Thursday evening a petition and a site to oppose the holding of the meeting of Eric Zemmour in Villepinte on Sunday, a “revolting symbol”.

“Neither Seine-Saint-Denis nor diversity can serve as a foil to those who attack the Republic, who hate France and who undermine its principles on a daily basis”, writes Stéphane Troussel in a petition hosted on the pascheznous site, created for the occasion.

After considering holding his first meeting in Paris following the announcement of his candidacy for the presidential election, the far-right polemicist Eric Zemmour finally deported the event to the Parc des Expositions de Villepinte in Seine-Saint -Denis.

“You can’t do ‘business’ with hate merchants”

Referring to a diversity charter signed in 2009 by Viparis, owner of the premises, Stéphane Troussel points out the company in his petition: “These commitments are absolutely incompatible with the reception of a polemicist who (…) leads today a campaign whose only basis is racism, xenophobia, anti-Semitism, hatred of Muslims “.

“We cannot do ‘business’ with hate merchants, when we say we are defending the values of diversity,” he says. “The symbol is revolting.”

“The Viparis group must explain itself: it must refuse to host the political meeting of a polemicist and presidential candidate multi-convicted of public provocation to racial hatred, in Seine-Saint-Denis!”, Concludes Stéphane Troussel! .

On BFMTV Friday morning, the spokesperson for PS candidate Anne Hidalgo justified her petition by wanting to “challenge a company”.

I am not intended to ban Eric Zemmour’s meeting, I am calling on a company

“I know my skills and my powers (…), it is not my vocation to ban the Eric Zemmour meeting, I am calling on a company, a large group anchored in the territory of Seine-Saint-Denis”, he explained.

“I consider that Eric Zemmour is a gravedigger of the Republic, of the republican principles, of freedom, of equality, of fraternity, and therefore it is my role to defend the citizens of this department”, added Stéphane Troussel, criticizing a candidate who “spends his time insulting Seine-Saint-Denis and its inhabitants”.
