Customs intercepted a vehicle on a motorway in Seine-Maritime last Sunday with more than nine kilos of drugs on board.
A couple, originally from Fougères (Ille-et-Vilaine), returning from Antwerp in Belgium, had hidden these nine kilos of heroin, one kilo of ecstasy and more than 500 grams of cocaine in the spare wheel of their car.
The 29-year-old young man and the 30-year-old woman were tried in immediate appearance in Rennes.
The man was sentenced to three years in prison, along with a warrant of committal. His partner has a one-year suspended sentence.
The couple is suspected of having already made several trips in Belgium to bring these drugs back to France on behalf of a third party and against the payment of a large sum of money.
