Miscellaneous facts. Accused of sexual assault, Pierre Ménès was taken into custody

Former Canal + journalist Pierre Ménès was taken into police custody as part of an investigation for sexual assault, according to information from the Parisian.

A preliminary investigation was opened on November 20 for facts which allegedly occurred the same day at the Parc des Princes stadium, during the PSG-Nantes match. According to The Parisian, Pierre Ménès would have committed inappropriate gestures against a hostess – he would have touched her chest.

The victim was heard by the police but did not wish to file a complaint. Noting several elements, the Paris prosecutor’s office decided to open this preliminary investigation for sexual assault.

Pierre Ménès filed a complaint for slanderous denunciation.

“He was accompanied by three people throughout the evening. There were absolutely no problems. The evening went very well and this is confirmed by the CERFA certificates of the three people who accompanied him everywhere”, said Me Arash Derambarsh, counsel to the former Canal Football Club columnist.

Last spring, the 58-year-old journalist retired from Canal +’s flagship sports program after revelations of sexist behavior and sexual assault. He had been incriminated by a documentary on sexism in sports editors co-directed by journalist Marie Portolano.
