Pep Guardiola’s men have really found their form towards Christmas, and can take a Christmas break as league leaders.
Against Newcastle, Rúben Dias, João Cancelo, Riyad Mahrez and Raheem Sterling scored, making it a comfortable victory.
– A good result, not a good performance. We were lucky, but Newcastle did not defend well on the first two goals. The first half was among the worst we have played this season, but the second half was far better, City manager Pep Guardiola told the BBC.

But it was the incident that happened a few minutes later that became the match’s big topic of conversation. Cancelo just caught a ball in front of Ryan Fraser, but just behind City goalkeeper Ederson slipped in. – It is a pathetic decision, writes the former Newcastle legend Alan Shearer Twitter.
The second half opened with pressure from the home team, but they did not count. Instead, Riyad Mahrez punctured the match for Manchester City with a nice volley scoring.
Five minutes before the end, the last goal of the match came when Raheem Sterling easily widened the ball in goal.
Chelsea have lost ground in the gold match against City and Liverpool. The London club therefore needed points away against Wolves, but that was easier said than done.
The home team was best before the break and had a goal canceled for offside. Daniel Podence rolled the ball into the goal, but the referee raised the flag on Raul Jimenez who was involved in the situation before.
Chelsea really wanted to postpone the match, as seven positive corona cases were discovered in the squad before kick-off. However, they were not heard by the Premier League
– We are angry and disappointed, said Thomas Tuchel about the league’s decision.
Romelu Lukaku, Timo Werner, Callum Hudson-odoi and Ben Chilwell have been confirmed infected. A reduced Chelsea team barely created a chance against Wolves and the match ended goalless. They are six points behind league leader Manchester City.
