Matignon announced this Sunday January 2 that Prime Minister Jean Castex will meet this Monday January 3 at 4:10 pm of his ministers “in order to take stock of the impact of the Omicron variant and the continuity of essential public services”.
Among the sectors concerned by this meeting, Matignon cited “hospitals, educational facilities, public transport, administrations, the army, the gendarmerie and police stations or even companies in the energy sector”.
Thus, the ministers of Health Olivier Véran, of the Economy Bruno Le Maire, of the Interior Gérald Darmanin, of Education Jean-Michel Blanquer, of Labor Elisabeth Borne, of the Armies Florence Parly, of the Civil Service Amélie de Montchalin, Ecological Transition Barbara Pompili, Transports Jean-Baptiste Djebbari and government spokesperson Gabriel Attal will participate in this meeting chaired by the Prime Minister.
Maintain “the sustainability of public services”
This meeting takes place on the day of the implementation of the new isolation rules “in order to take into account the extremely rapid development of the distribution of the Omicron variant while maintaining the socio-economic life of the country and the sustainability of public services” , recalled Matignon.
As a reminder, this Monday, January 3, new health provisions will come into force. Among them, the wearing of a compulsory mask for children from 6 years old and isolation for Covid patients reduced to five days after a negative test. But also, a minimum number of teleworking three days a week for positions where this is possible.
For his part, the Minister of National Education Jean-Michel Blanquer unveiled the new health protocol in schools, before the start of the school year.
