An illegal rave party gathered this weekend in Villeveyrac in the Hérault, up to a thousand people at the height of the event which ended this Sunday, January 2.
“They were 1,000 at the peak and are now around 400”, detailed the prefecture, specifying that “the gendarmes present since the departure secure in particular the exits”.
Villeveyrac, a village of 3,700 inhabitants, is located on the heights of the Thau basin, not far from Sète. According to the mayor of the municipality, a majority of motorhomes were registered in Spain and Italy.
Police custody in progress
A total of 44 violations were noted. Fines for possession of narcotics and driving under the influence of narcotics or in a state of alcohol have in particular been drawn up. Police custody is also in progress.
In Yonne, another rave party has also gathered since Friday up to 1,500 people on an industrial site in Saint-Florentin. Most of them had left the scene on Sunday. An investigation was opened “for unlawful organization of a festive musical gathering” by the prosecutor’s office in Auxerre.
