Nvidia’s Cloud Gaming Service Shifts Into High Speed

Geforce Now, Nvidia’s cloud gaming service, recently took it up a notch, with an offer called RTX 3080 that we were able to try for several weeks.

This technical step is particularly attractive for players who want to free themselves from the purchase of a powerful PC dedicated to gaming, or quite simply for those who want to bypass the shortage of latest generation consoles, and in particular Playstation 5.

Less than 100 euros for six months of access

For 99.99 euros, this subscription allows you to “stream” for six months most of the games in your PC library (Steam or other), on just about any device, be it an entry-level PC, a Mac or even an Android smartphone . We were able to test, for example, “Guardians of The Galaxy” on the service, even on a desktop laptop, and the result blew us away. There is an absence of lag, surprising at first glance, and an extremely attractive visual aspect, in particular with the inclusion of Ray Tracing.

Obviously, Nvidia warns future users, because not everyone will be able to access the RTX 3080 offer. It is therefore essential to have a solid Internet connection (fiber recommended). In this case the promises of Nvidia (game up to 1.440p at 120 frames per second) are fully respected.

Access to dozens of free games is also on the program. To keep up to date, you have to keep an eye on the “GFN Thursday” on the brand’s networks, every Thursday, which updates the list new games landing on the experience.

Among the relatively recent titles already integrated into the GFN, we can cite technically demanding games, such as Cyberpunk 2077, Farcry 6 or even Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, which run without worry in QHD and with a comfortable framerate, which is always located in 60 and 120 frames per second.

On the other hand, we obviously regret, for the moment, the absence of titles reserved for other Cloud Gaming platforms, such as Microsoft games or Sony titles. The growing success of GFN could eventually convince reluctant publishers.

It is nevertheless useful to specify that this new RTX 3080 offer does not eliminate the others already in force. To test the Geforce Now, for example, there is a free offer, with a GTX 1070 equivalent but intended for more casual players, as well as the priority offer, with an RTX 2080 equivalent for 1080p at 60 frames per second, offered at 49 , 99 euros for six months of access. Good to know, by subscribing to the RTX 2080 or RTX 3080 offer, the Crysis Remastered game is offered.
