Red demands answers about Norway’s role in military operations in Iraq and Syria

Red leader Bjørnar Moxnes believes the government has tacitly accepted that the United States has carried out air strikes against civilian targets in the war against Iraq and Syria.

Red leader Bjørnar Moxnes believes the government has tacitly accepted that the United States has carried out air strikes against civilian targets in the war against Iraq and Syria.

In December, Moxnes sent a written question to Minister of Defense Odd Roger Enoksen (Sp) after that The New York Times has recently made allegations that the United States may have carried out a series of air strikes against civilian targets in the war against Iraq and Syria.

It writes NRK.

– The revelations about the US secret war in Syria and Iraq are sensational and shocking. They concern us because we participated in the war against the terrorist group IS. What did Norway know about this? What have we really been involved in, Moxnes asks.

Enoksen’s response states that Norwegian forces have always based their efforts on compliance with the international law of war in particular and international law in general, and that Norway assumes that coalition partners do the same.

Moxnes tells NRK that he reacts strongly to the answer from the Minister of Defense.

– That Norway’s Minister of Defense will not comment on the latest revelations about American massacres of civilians can not be accepted, says the Red leader.

A spokesman for the US Central Command said in a comment to the New York Times that the United States will learn from mistakes made.
