Frenchman Antoine Wend, under the nickname Mando, won the ninth edition of the “X Factor” program in Lithuania on Sunday, December 26. The 27-year-old was accompanied by a Lithuanian pianist, reports Le Figaro.
This student, who is a complete stranger in France, is from Notre-Dame-de-Bondeville, in Seine-Maritime (Normandy).
It was a few years ago, in Lithuania, that he met the pianist Mindaugas Pundzius, while he was visiting a friend.
During the adventure “X Factor”, Mando took over great classics of French song like SOS a landowner in distress by Daniel Balavoine or I am sick by Serge Lama, but also more international titles such as I Drove All Night by Céline Dion.
15,000 euros and an album to come
These performances won over the show’s jury and the public. Thus, the two men left with 15,000 euros and the assurance of signing an album at Universal.
“I have no words to express my gratitude. You are making our dream come true and this is just the start ”, wrote on his Instagram account the young singer after his victory.
According to The Parisian, Antoine Wend plans to stay in Lithuania and play music with his pianist at least until the end of January. Then he should come back to France for a while.
