Many great Hollywood figures in the cast of this series in six episodes, broadcast from tomorrow at 9:05 pm on TF1 and entitled The Undoing. Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant play Grace and Jonathan Fraser, a New York couple. She is a therapist, he is an oncologist, their son goes to a very privileged school.
In the first episode, the ultra chic milieu of wealthy New York families is disturbed by the arrival, experienced almost as an intrusion, of a woman of more modest origins, Elena. She tries to mingle with the group of school mothers, who are organizing a charity event. But they are tense and are offended that she breastfeeds her baby in front of them or does not have certain codes. Among them, Grace Fraser is intrigued by this woman, who observes her from afar and comes to confide in her.
Scandal in the couple with the perfect life
The intrigue is set when Elena is found in a bloodbath, murdered. Policemen and journalists flock to the exit of the school to question the mothers. Their daily routine, based on private drivers, luxury apartments and collections of masterpieces, will it be marred by a scandal?
That evening, Jonathan Fraser does not answer the phone and does not come home after his medical convention. Is he just busy with work? Suddenly, the fact that he was Elena’s son’s doctor, Elena’s odd behavior with Grace, and the questions Jonathan asked Grace about Elena all cause doubt.
The Undoing is adapted from the novel The First Impressions by Jean Hanff Korelitz. Directed by Susanne Bier, it was broadcast in the fall of 2020 in the United States and Canada. American media (including Entertainment Weekly, Rolling Stone, Vulture Where The Atlantic), criticized the series for its lack of finesse and development in the writing of the characters, and found it disappointing compared to the other series of the same writer and producer, David E. Kelley, in which Nicole also played Kidman, Big Little Lies.
“The Undoing”, from Wednesday January 5 at 9:05 pm on TF1.
