Australian Open: Where is Novak Djokovic staying while awaiting the hearing regarding his visa?

Novak Djokovic has had some eventful last hours. Arrived on Australian soil on Wednesday, the Serbian was stranded at Melbourne airport due to a visa problem, before being placed in a hotel for illegal refugees described as “unsanitary”.

It is in one of the rooms of the “Park Hotel” that the world n ° 1 will have to take his troubles patiently at least until Monday. He probably never imagined having to stay in this modest establishment when he flew to Australia. He had also displayed all smiles before getting on the plane, announcing on social networks that he had obtained a medical exemption to participate in the Australian Open (January 17-30).

But hardly had he disembarked that he was detained by the local authorities because of his visa, which did not present the “appropriate elements to be able to enter” in the country. Asked to leave Australia, Novak Djokovic has taken legal action against the cancellation of his visa and a hearing is scheduled for Monday. While waiting to see if he can stay in Australia or not, he was confined to the hotel with the unflattering reputation. While the facility is reportedly housing illegal refugees, several people reportedly complained about the food due to the presence of worms and mold.

Despite these conditions, Novak Djokovic can count on the support of the Serbian diaspora present in Australia and come to demonstrate under his window with signs and flags of Serbia. And he thanked the people who came to give him comfort by sending them kisses and hearts through the glass.
