In an interview in Provence, Valérie Pécresse adopts a very safe discourse with the allure of “Sarkozists” by giving a more right-wing tone to her campaign.
“I’ll take the Kärcher out of the cellar.” It’s been 10 years to use it. It is a question of putting order in the street (…) one does not give any more answer vis-a-vis the violence of the new barbarians ”, she thus launched, in a reference to the famous small sentence of Nicolas Sarkozy in 2005.
At the time, the one who was then Minister of the Interior had gone to the city of 4000 in La Courneuve where an 11-year-old boy had been killed, the victim of a shootout between two rival gangs. “We’re going to clean up the city at the Kärcher. We will put the necessary staff and the time it takes, but it will be cleaned up ”, he had then launched.
Seventeen years later, Valérie Pécresse says in her turn that she wants to “clean up the neighborhoods”. In this sense, it proposes to launch “punching brigades, including digital means, the tax authorities, but also the army”.
The candidate also takes the opportunity to tackle the security record of Emmanuel Macron, denouncing a “crisis of total authority”. She also ensures that unlike the current president, she will not be in action. “We have a president who talks constantly, to insult or to seduce. The French know me less, because I act, ”she said.
Valérie Pécresse should make new announcements this Thursday during a trip to Bouches-du-Rhône and Vaucluse on this subject of safety.
