Seine-Saint-Denis. Feminicide and infanticide in Aubervilliers: a man imprisoned for murders

The man suspected of having killed his wife and their two-year-old daughter with a knife on the night of Friday to Saturday in Aubervilliers (Seine-Saint-Denis) was imprisoned for murders and attempted murder.

Indicted for “murder by partner”, “murder on a minor of 15 years” and “attempted murder”, he was placed under a warrant of provisional deposit, after asking for a delay to prepare his defense, said the prosecution of Bobigny. The 29-year-old suspect admitted to the facts but did not explain them, the same source added.

Around 2:10 a.m. on Saturday, the emergency services intervened in an apartment in the city center of Aubervilliers where there were two lifeless bodies, that of a 29-year-old mother and her two-and-a-half-year-old daughter, said the Bobigny prosecutor. Eric Mathais.

The respondent’s 20-year-old sister, also stabbed, jumped out of the window of the apartment, located on the second floor of the apartment building, to escape her brother. Shortly after the tragedy, the suspect fled by car, before crashing into a wall. Having suffered fractures to his hand, both ankles and a pneumo-thorax, he was hospitalized on Saturday. The man had already been convicted several times by the courts over the past ten years. But “as it stands, no complaints have been found against him for acts of domestic violence”, according to the prosecution.

According to the latest report from the Ministry of the Interior, 102 women died under the blows of their spouse or ex-spouse in 2020. They were 146 in 2019.
