This is confirmed by Bodø / Glimt on Monday night – only minutes after VG first announced the contract extension.
– The whole autumn has been an adventure, and I have experienced two of my biggest dreams as a Glimt player. I have never experienced winning the series and playing in Europe before I came to Bodø and I want to continue that journey, says Pellegrino to glimt.no over the phone.
According to VG’s information, there was interest from abroad, including lucrative offers from the Middle East, but the 31-year-old would rather stay in Bodø, something he goes a long way in confirming in the press release.
– I have been insecure and gone many rounds with both myself and the family. There have been good offers from abroad, but the total has not been any better than what I get here. In a sporting sense, that is, he says.
On Monday afternoon, Pellegrino joked that he was unemployed and applied for a job:
Pellegrino kom to Bodø / Glimt from Damac FC in August. It happened just months after he joined the club in Saudi Arabia after ravaging Kristiansund in the Elite Series in the 2020 season. The contract with Damac was terminated after two goals in 12 games.
After the transfer to Bodø / Glimt, there were six goals and three assists in 15 games in the Elite Series.
At the same time, he delivered two goals and two assists in the Conference League.
– We are very happy that Pellegrino wants to be with us further, writes sports manager Håvard Sakariassen in an SMS to VG, and even costs himself a smiling emoji.
VG has not succeeded in getting a comment from Amahl Pellegrino.
Bodø / Glimt states that he has been diagnosed with corona and thus is not available to the media, but expects to be ready when the run-up starts in a week’s time.
Earlier this week, it became clear that Bodø / Glimt have also bought midfielder Gaute Vetti from Sarpsborg 08.
In addition, they have brought back Brice Wembangomo after his contract expired with Sandefjord.
Bodø residents Patrick Berg and Fredrik Bjørkan have both left the club in January. They now play for French Lens and German Hertha Berlin.
