Presidential 2022: Kärcher reacts to Valérie Pécresse’s comments and asks to no longer use her brand

For the Kärcher group, this is too much light. In a press release published on Tuesday, January 11, he opposes the recent remarks of Valérie Pécresse, who promised to “bring the Kärcher out of the cellar” to “clean up the neighborhoods”. The company no longer wants its brand to be used by “political figures”.

In 2005, the brand had already been put forward by Nicolas Sarkozy, then Minister of the Interior. Traveling to La Courneuve (Seine-Saint-Denis) after the death of an 11-year-old child, killed during a settling of scores, he had promised to “clean up the city of 4,000 at Kärcher”.

A rhetoric today taken up by Valérie Pécresse as a campaign argument. The Republican candidate for the 2022 presidential election cited the brand for the first time in an interview with La Provence on January 6, before repeating her remarks several times in the following days.

Deeming these remarks “inappropriate”, Kärcher considers that such use of its mark is “inappropriate”. Refusing to be the “banner” of a party, the company “asks politicians and the media to immediately cease all use of its brand in the political sphere, which undermines its brand and the values of the company “.
