Guest of the CNEWS Morning, Gérald Darmanin answered Laurence Ferrari’s questions on the climate of insecurity.
After discussing the arrest of the perpetrators of the violent attack filmed in Noisy-le-Sec, the Minister of the Interior spoke about the increase in violence against elected officials and the police.
“There is an increase in violence against people holding public authority: police officers, gendarmes, elected officials … It has been increasing for fifteen years and this is unacceptable”, he stressed.
According to the minister, this problem joins that of the “attack on authority in our country” which is more of a “cultural, educational” problem.
“The answer cannot be that of the police,” he adds, referring to the role of “National Education” and “parents”.
