New turn with omikron: Now strict measures can make pain worse

Very many will be infected by omikron in the future. That can actually be a good thing. Strict quarantine requirements may soon end.

We are in a completely different phase of the pandemic. Now we can allow far more people to become infected. Therefore, there are good reasons not to have too strict measures, the health authorities believe.

It is far less dangerous to be infected with omikron than delta. If you become infected, there is a low risk of becoming seriously ill. But you will get immunity. That immunity can come in handy if there are new, scarier varieties.
