Climate: Emmanuel Macron booed on his arrival at the European Parliament

“Climate, climate, guilty Macron”. Before starting his speech at the European Parliament in Strasbourg (Bas-Rhin) this Wednesday, January 19, marking the start of the French presidency of the Council of the European Union, Emmanuel Macron was challenged by environmental activists on his record in the field climatic.

Heavily criticized for his climate record by Yannick Jadot, Emmanuel Macron was called Tuesday “president of climate inaction” by candidate EELV in the next presidential election. “It is not enough to proclaim oneself pro-European to serve Europe”, explained the MEP.

In line with this attack, many environmental activists took over the European Parliament on Wednesday to boo Emmanuel Macron on this subject, chanting “climate, climate, Macron guilty”.

Prior to this operation, climate activists immersed the various portraits of the Head of State taken down in recent years in fuel oil to send a strong symbolic message.

“Moving from intentions to actions”

Heckled by environmental activists when he entered the European Parliament on the subject of the climate, the French head of state mentioned a few minutes later, during his speech, his plan in the matter.

“We must move from intentions to action,” said Emmanuel Macron during his speech, explaining in passing his intention to defend the carbon tax at the borders of the EU.
