Gaspard Ulliel, victim of a ski accident in a Savoy resort last Tuesday, died of his injuries, AFP announced on Wednesday.
The actor was found unconscious after his fall from skiing, while he was in La Rosière, in Savoie. After being transported by helicopter to the Grenoble University Hospital around 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday, for a head trauma, his death, at the age of 37, was announced on Wednesday. It was his family who transmitted the information by means of a press release to his agent.
If the circumstances of the accident have not been detailed, the drama would come from a collision between skiers, while the actor was at the crossroads of two blue slopes, according to concordant sources.
The César for best actor in 2017
The actor had been revealed in “Les Egarés” by André Téchiné, when he was only 19 years old. In 2005, he received the César for the best male hope for his interpretation of a soldier of the First World War in “A long engagement Sunday”.
He then notably played the famous couturier Yves Saint-Laurent, in the biopic directed by Bertrand Bonello (2014). In 2017, he won the César for best actor for his role in “Just the end of the world”, by Xavier Dolan. He was soon to appear in the Disney+ series “Moon Knight”.
A discreet man about his private life
Born in Boulogne-Billancourt on November 25, 1984, Gaspard Ulliel was the son of two stylists, Christine Ulliel and Sergius Ulliel. His very first appearance on a screen will be in 1996, when he is only a colleague, in an episode of« A woman in white”. After passing his ES baccalaureate at the École active bilingual Jeannine-Manuel (EABJM) from Paris, he studied cinema at the University of Saint-Denis. After an early career in television and in short films, he quickly turned to film.
In addition to his acting activity, Gaspard Ulliel was also a model. The was notably one of the faces of Chanel, for whom he carried out several advertising campaigns. Since 2013 (according to the official date), the actor was in a relationship with the Gaelle model Pietri. Very discreet about their private life, we nevertheless know that they had a six-year-old son, Orso.
