Ligue 1: Hatem Ben Arfa joins Lille

Hatem Ben Arfa signed on Wednesday with Lille until the end of the season, the northern club said.

After Lyon, Marseille, Nice, Paris, Rennes and Bordeaux, it is a seventh French club that the midfielder will discover with the Dogues.

“Losc announces the arrival at the club of Hatem Ben Arfa (34 years old). The French international midfielder (15 caps, 2 goals) signed a 6-month contract today which binds him to the Lille club until the end of the 2021-2022 season”, writes the French champion on its website.

Free of any contract, the 34-year-old remains on a very mixed experience with the Girondins de Bordeaux in 2020-2021 with 25 games in all competitions for two goals scored. He numerically replaces the Turkish Yusuf Yazici, loaned six months to CSKA Moscow.

“I am very happy to join LOSC today. It’s a team that has shown a lot of great things this season, and obviously last year with a title of Champion of France. I am happy to sign in this club which continues to rise, explained Hatem Ben Arfa who will wear No. 11. (…) I know that many great players have passed through here. It is an honor for me to be able to take up this challenge, with the desire above all to help the group and the club achieve their objectives. I feel very good and I can’t wait to get back to competition.”
