Australian Open: Benoît Paire offers himself Grigor Dimitrov and will find Stefanos Tsitsipas

Benoît Paire won against Grigor Dimitrov (6-4, 6-4, 6-7, 7-6) at the Australian Open on Thursday, and will find Stefanos Tsitsipas in the third round.

A few hours after the incredible success of Alizé Cornet against Garbine Muguraza, the Frenchman, 56th in the world, showed himself at ease. Calm and serene, he released the perfect match without ever getting upset, as too often before.

The Frenchman, however, experienced an alert to the change of sides at 5-4 in his favor: probably taken from stomach aches, he called for a doctor who gave him a stamp.

At 32, the Avignonnais had already reached the third round twice (2014 and 2017) in Melbourne, without ever passing it. Last year, when he was psychologically affected by the health measures linked to the covid pandemic, he lost in the first round.
