At the helm of this new meeting, the duo intends to place its plot in a new period, and more precisely before the adventures of Frodo. “Until now, fans have only been able to see the One Ring stories on screen, but before there was just One, there were many more…and we’re thrilled at the idea of being able to share their story”, explained the duo, quoted by Le Parisien. A new era that will begin in “time of relative peace” and will follow “many characters, some familiar, some new, as they come to terms with the re-emergence of evil in Middle-earth,” it added.
Enigmatic first images
While waiting to discover the first teaser of this new adventure, the platform has however unveiled a first video. We see a cloud of smoke, craters looking like a canyon, glowing metal… Images that give rise to all speculation. It is actually “melted metal on wooden logs where the letters (from the title of this new series, editor’s note) have been recreated by hand”, explained the platform, which therefore chose “to forge the title in a real foundry”, like the “numerous elements of the series built by hand”.
A series that has not skimped on the means. A billion dollars have been invested for the filming of its first two seasons, according to Allociné.
