Val-d’Oise: 161 complaints for rape and sexual assault against a gynecologist

Gynecologist and serial rapist? 161 patients filed a complaint against a practitioner from Val-d’Oise, for acts of rape and sexual assault.

One of them described to RTL caresses on the inside of the thighs, on the pretext that it was necessary to relax for the installation of an IUD. Others followed on the chest, kisses on the forehead, cheeks or legs, while the pain of the intervention made him lose consciousness for short moments.

“He was turning at the stirrups and going back and forth in my vagina. These weren’t medical gestures, I was in a daze, like above my body. I suffered what was happening without being able to react, ”she said.

The first acts in the 1980s

The opening of the investigation dates back to 2013, but some acts date back to the 1980s. The work of the investigators was to find the victims, who were not necessarily aware of what they had suffered. They allowed the collection of 118 complaints and the gynecologist is indicted for 75 rapes and 14 sexual assaults.

Since September, 43 new complaints have been filed. That is a total of 161, making this file an extremely cumbersome and therefore long procedure. In progress for eight years, the investigation could thus last another ten to fifteen years, report our colleagues. The problem being that, for the victims who have already come forward, the need for a trial is pressing. For this, the judges must however close the instruction.

“Asian-style” practices

The fear is that the 70-year-old gynecologist will die before being tried. He defends himself by explaining that his gestures were used to relax his patients. “Asian style,” he explained, referring to his Vietnamese origins. He is currently free but under judicial supervision, with a ban on practicing medicine.

Sources also claim that some of his colleagues could have known about his practices. The council of the College of Physicians and the Pontoise public prosecutor’s office would also have received several complaints, but dismissed at the time (year 2000), for lack of evidence.
