Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador underwent a heart exam Friday at a military hospital as part of a routine health checkup and is in good health, the Interior Ministry said.

During a heart catheterization procedure, “the president’s heart and arteries were found to be healthy and functioning properly,” the ministry said in a statement.

“No other type of intervention was necessary and it was a brief procedure that lasted around 30 minutes,” he added.

Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, 68, suffered a myocardial infarction in 2013 and has just recovered from his second Covid-19 infection, the ministry said, adding that he is undergoing a routine examination every the six months.
