Miss France 2022: the very symbolic remuneration of the candidates

For the first time, the 29 candidates for the Miss France 2022 election have signed an employment contract. But the total amount of the salary received is 252 euros net, a derisory sum in view of the hours and days of preparation.

Because if the Misses are mobilized for long weeks to be ready on D-Day, the production only pays them for the last three days. In an article in Le Parisien, Gwenegann Saillard, Miss Champagne-Ardenne 2020, is indignant: “Why pay us only for three days? The contract should cover the whole month where we make ourselves available, where we put our studies, our jobs, our lives aside. Receiving gifts does not replace a salary. Moreover, we are encouraged to promote it on our social networks. We become volunteer muses. It is exploitation. Still according to Le Parisien, over the thirty days preceding the ceremony, the Misses devote more than 250 hours to the production of the event.

“Some girls would be ready to pay to be part of it! »

However, not all Misses share this opinion, like Sarah Conan, Miss Brittany 2021, who tells our colleagues that “some girls would be ready to pay to be in it!” Faced with this series of reactions, Alexia Laroche-Joubert, president of the Miss France company, defended herself by recalling that “Miss France is a competition”, and that the remuneration by employment contract for Misses was “a great step forward”. .

As for the remuneration of young women over three days, the president does not intend to go beyond: “It does not correspond to our values and the motivations of the candidates would no longer be the same.”
