Presidential 2022. Rise in salaries, nationalizations, RIC… Fabien Roussel details his program

“I propose positive, happy reforms”, claims Fabien Roussel, who presented this Monday at a press conference some of the 180 measures of his program called “France happy days”. The candidate of the Communist Party thus sets six objectives: “a revolution at work”; “priority to the commons”; “the youth and the future of France”; “a new development model”; “the hour of feminist revolution” and “the conquest of real equality and emancipation”.

Fabien Roussel proposes a general increase in wages – and the real application of equal pay in one year – with a minimum wage set at 1,500 euros net and a minimum retirement pension at 1,200 euros. He wants to “eradicate unemployment” by guaranteeing a “universal right to employment” which will allow everyone to access work or training for a “dignified salary”.

Ending medical deserts

The MP for the North also wants to create 500,000 public service jobs. “When people say that I am the favorite candidate of the right, she will become disillusioned when she sees my program”, he laughs, while Valérie Pécresse proposes, for example, the elimination of 150,000 positions in the public service.

One of the objectives is to put an end to medical deserts by allowing everyone to live less than 30 minutes from a health establishment. To do this, the candidate of the Communist Party plans to condition the agreement of doctors in dense areas to encourage them to settle in areas with fewer resources.

“AXA, BNP, Societe Generale: we will nationalize you”

For young people, Fabien Roussel wants to guarantee a minimum income of 850 euros for each student, which can go up to 1,000 euros depending on the situation, so that they no longer have to work to finance their studies. For him, “it’s a question of equality”. “We will offer all our young people a job or training,” he also promises as part of his “zero youth unemployment system”.

Fabien Roussel also wants to “block relocations” and reindustrialize France: “it’s good for jobs and for the environment”. He claims to be pro-nuclear and thus marks his difference with the rest of the candidates on the left. “Nuclear power is the only solution with hydropower to have cheaper and carbon-free electricity,” he underlines, advocating a nuclear and renewable energy mix.

Fabien Roussel thus wishes to nationalize EDF and Engie, but also “the big banks and private insurance companies”, citing AXA, BNP and Société Générale. “We will attack the wall of money”, swears the parliamentarian, who announces that he will confiscate 100 billion euros, or 10% of the 1,000 billion euros in assets of the 358,000 richest taxpayers to finance his program.

900 billion euros for the climate

And, “to give back to the people the freedom to be able to decide their destiny”, he proposes that a petition of 500,000 citizens allow the examination of a bill. A petition of one million citizens will allow the organization of a referendum.

Finally, on the international side, Fabien Roussel reiterates his desire to lift patents on vaccines and “world production” of these. The communist advocates the construction of a “new European Union” to “regain power over money in Europe”. It is also based on the conclusions of the IPCC indicating that each country must invest 6% of its GDP for the climate to submit a “climate and social emergency pact of 900 billion euros”.
