On Tuesday, Norway and Sweden will meet in what will be a decisive match in the hunt for a semi-final ticket to the European Championships.

  • If Norway wins against Sweden, they will be the group winner and advance to the semifinals.
  • Norway is also ahead with a draw. Then they will probably be number two in the group.
  • If Norway loses to Sweden, they are dependent on Poland beating Spain. It is considered unlikely.
  • Spain’s match against Poland starts at 15.30, while the match between Norway and Sweden starts at 20.30. Should Spain play a draw or beat Poland, Sweden must win over Norway to reach the semifinals.

On Monday, it was confirmed that the Swedes will have to do without the two players Andreas Palicka and Felix Claar against Norway. Both have tested positive for the coronavirus.

It writes the Swedish national team in one press release.

LOSING IMPORTANT PLAYERS: Norwegian Glenn Solberg is the national team manager for the Swedish handball masters. Here with Palicka earlier in the championship.

Palicka is the first goalkeeper and captain of the Swedish national team, while midfielder Felix Claar has scored 16 goals for Sweden so far in the championship.

– Unfortunately, we received this boring message today early. It is of course a setback that we can not use two such good players in such an important match, but at the same time there is nothing we can do about it now. Now there are new conditions, and we will fight for a place in the semifinals even without Andreas and Felix.

The Swedes have had several cases of infection during the championship. Max Darj, Daniel Pettersson, Niclas Ekberg and a physiotherapist have all tested positive for the coronavirus in the past. Darj is back again after the infection and will be captain in Tuesday’s match.
