NEW YORK (Aftenposten): Norway puts urban warfare on the agenda of the UN Security Council. Now it warns of the danger of enormous destruction in Ukraine.
The fear of a major war in Europe characterizes politics on both sides of the Atlantic.
Russia has deployed 100,000 troops in the areas around Ukraine. NATO countries have responded by sending more ships and aircraft to Eastern Europe.
The United States has put 8,500 troops on high alert, which in turn has led Russia to say it is looking at US action “with great concern”.
Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre believes the situation in Europe is probably the most turbulent since the end of the Cold War.
– I have been worried for several weeks, Støre says to Aftenposten in New York.
