Paris 2024 Olympics: a worker victim of a serious accident on the site of the Olympic village

Straddling the cities of Saint-Ouen, Ile-Saint-Denis and Saint-Denis, the site of the future Olympic village, for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, is mobilizing many workers. This Monday, January 24, one of them was seriously injured when “his truck ran over him”.

According to the Bobigny prosecutor’s office, the victim was hit “both legs and arm”. It is also specified that an investigation has been opened in order to “determine whether responsibility is involved”.

Tuesday morning, during a press conference, Nicolas Ferrand, the general manager of the Olympic works delivery company, Solideo, described the accident as a “tragedy for everyone”. For its part, the CGT 93 considers rather that “this event highlights again the scandalous question of risks at work in the construction sector”.

In December, a delegation of several unions, French and international, had already met Solideo to denounce in particular the impossibility of visiting the sites. For the CGT 93, it is obvious that “the employees of building sites and public works are prey to a level of dangerousness in the exercise of their profession which is inadmissible”.
