James Gunn just announced that “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” would be the last film dedicated to “this group of guardians”.
This third installment, which began filming last November, will therefore be the last opportunity for fans to see Star-Lord, Rocket, Groot, and the others share their adventures in the Marvel universe. “It’s the end for us, the last time people will see this Guardians team,” he reveals in the podcast Hero Nation of Deadline.
“The film is huge and dark, and different from what people might expect. I just want to be faithful to the characters, to the story, and to give the spectators the conclusion that they deserve, ”continues James Gunn, without specifying however if this team of Guardians will be content to separate, will be replaced by new protagonists, or will simply cease to exist.
The release of Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 3 is slated for May 3, 2023, with a cast consisting of Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Sean Gunn, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel and Sylvester Stallone. Plus newcomers Will Poulter as Adam Warlock, and Chukwudi Iwuji in an undisclosed role for now.
