It reports both ESPN, Sports Illustrated and Reuters Saturday night.
The official confirmation from Brady himself came on Twitter, via the company TBSports12, which he owns:
The 44-year-old played 20 seasons for the New England Patriots, before signing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020. In total, he has won seven Super Bowls.
There has been confusion about Brady’s future in recent months, but now the decision must be made. The Buccaneers had a hope of persuading Brady to take another season, but the main character himself should have been clear all along that he does not want a “coloring season”.
Brady has previously stated that he envisioned playing until he was 45 years old. The American turns 45 in August.
After playing college football in Michigan, Brady was drafted No. 199 by the New England Patriots in 2000. Over the course of his career, he has taken most of the records. Among these is the record for most “touchdown passes” and over the longest distance.
These are statistics the legend has also topped this season.
Brady has received the award as “most valuable player” three times, most recently in 2017. When he started the Super Bowl in 2020, he became the oldest of all time. There is little doubt that Brady is at the top. He is among the favorites to win the same award this year and be considered the NFL’s best player.
The last game of his career ended in loss to the Los Angeles Rams earlier in January.
