The mayor of the town of Sainte-Mondane, near Sarlat, in the Dordogne, welcomed a couple to his home in the middle of the night after a fire tells France Bleu.
The facts occurred on the night of Friday to Saturday. The couple began to smell suspicious smoke. But it was already too late: their home was on fire. Nearly 80 m2 burned including the roof. It was impossible for the couple to stay on the premises.
The mayor then invited them to come and sleep at his house in the middle of the night while waiting for an accommodation solution. The couple could be relocated with family members in the coming days.
