Live. Presidential 2022: who will win the popular Primary?

9:41 a.m .: For Jean Castex, it is Valérie Pécresse who “burns the cash register”

Prime Minister Jean Castex estimated that Valérie Pécresse “considerably burns the cash register” with her proposals for the presidential election, which change “every three days”, and scratched several other candidates, in an interview on Radio J broadcast this Sunday.

“She explains to us that she is financing this by reducing civil servant posts. But by telling us that it creates many in justice, the judiciary […] Let her tell us how we do it. If there are good ideas, I’m always ready to take them, but I don’t see too many,” said the chief executive.

9:39 am: Gabriel Attal “skeptical” about the usefulness of a debate for Macron before the first round

Government spokesman Gabriel Attal said he was “skeptical” on Saturday, in the newspaper Le Parisien, on the usefulness of a debate before the first round of the presidential election for the quasi-candidate Emmanuel Macron against rivals who install, according to him, “a campaign of the living dead”.

“The president has always shown his interest in the confrontation of ideas. But what would that first-round debate look like? Twelve candidates seeking for 1h50 their “moment” with the president, who would have ten minutes to answer them. I am skeptical of such a format which would show above all a lack of democratic requirement, ”he believes.

While the oppositions push Emmanuel Macron to finally announce his candidacy for the campaign to really start, Gabriel Attal believes that “the absence of debate is the fact of the declared candidates” who “install a campaign of the living dead”.

9:32 am: Who will win the popular Primary?

The votes for the device are open until Sunday 5 p.m. and the name of the winner will be communicated at 7 p.m. Among the seven candidates, three are “in spite of themselves”: Jean-Luc Mélenchon, Yannick Jadot and Anne Hidalgo. Christiane Taubira is considered the favorite in this election, in particular because the former Keeper of the Seals is the one who received the most sponsorships during the first phase of the process (34,625), far ahead of Pierre Larrouturou (14,589), Jean -Luc Mélenchon (9,452), Anne Hidalgo (6,511), Yannick Jadot (6,372), Charlotte Marchandise (1,739) and Anna Agueb-Porterie (779). But impossible to predict who the 467,000 registered in the popular Primary will evaluate, by majority judgment, as the best placed to embody this common candidacy on the left.
