Val-de-Marne: police open fire on a man who threatened them with a knife

Police fired this Sunday, January 30 at a man who threatened them with a knife, seriously injuring him, in Ormesson-sur-Marne (Val-de-Marne).

In the middle of the afternoon, the man, who was rushed to hospital, was alive, said the Créteil prosecutor’s office, contacted by AFP.

According to a source familiar with the matter, he had psychological problems. It would be a tenant who argued with his landlord and threatened him with a knife, which would have prompted the latter to call the police.

When the police arrived around 3 p.m., the man, who was subject to a possible crisis of dementia, threatened them with his knife, said a police source.

After “unsuccessful use of the taser”, two police officers opened fire, still according to this same source.

According to the first elements of the investigation, the man was hit by two bullets.
