Éric Zemmour: what to remember from his interview in L’Heure des Pros

Guest of the Hour of the pros this Monday, January 31, Éric Zemmour was confident about his candidacy for the 2022 presidential election. The leader of the Reconquête! is pleased to note that “[ses] halls are full, inflamed and enthusiastic”.

The one who recently recognized the difficulties in gathering the 500 sponsorships necessary for his candidacy is delighted to have gathered, last Friday, “1,000 people” in the small village of Chaumont-sur-Thaurone (Loir-et-Cher) “ without bus or chartered train”. Boasting of being “the only one who can do that”, Éric Zemmour highlights the dynamics of his party, created in December and gathering today “nearly 90,000 members” according to him.

He thus thinks he is in the best position to rally the right around his candidacy. “I think that Valérie Pécresse like Marine Le Pen cannot gather” dropped the former polemicist. According to him, the Republican candidate “does not want to gather, since she inherited and she is proud of it, of Jacques Chirac’s health theory and therefore she does not want National Rally voters.”

With regard to Marine Le Pen, Éric Zemmour evokes the previous presidential election, in 2017, when the latter, according to him, “did everything” to have “the voices of rebellious France” while she “forbade herself the voice of François Fillon”. A strategy that he considers, again, not very unifying. For its part, the leader of Reconquête! believes to be “in the middle, between Valérie Pécresse and Marine Le Pen and I welcome voters from both parties”.

Rallies from the RN

Not only voters elsewhere, since within Reconquête!, Éric Zemmour also welcomed certain former members of the RN, like Jérôme Rivière, Gilbert Collard or Damien Rieu. Even Marine Le Pen’s niece, Marion Maréchal Le Pen, expressed her hesitation to join the former polemicist. “I’m thinking, no decision has been made, but if I support Éric (Zemmour, editor’s note), it’s not just to hang around and say hello,” said the young woman during an interview with Le Parisien, Thursday.

On this subject, the leader of Reconquest! opts for patience: “Marion Maréchal will choose in conscience. Marine Le Pen and Marion Maréchal are not only an aunt and a niece, they are above all women politicians. They embody lines which we have known have been different for years. Marion Maréchal will define herself and express herself when she wants, as she wants.

On the CNEWS set, Eric Zemmour also returned to his participation in Cyril Hanouna’s show, “Face à Baba”. An initiative that reflected a desire to speak “to the French of France”. Opposed to Jean-Luc Mélenchon during a debate, the former polemicist, who claims to have “wanted a democratic debate” regretted the attitude described as aggressive of his evening opponent.

That evening, the leader of rebellious France was confronted with several speakers, including Charles Consigny, Aymeric Caron and Eric Zemmour. A meeting that the latter obviously considers to have dominated: “Mr. Mélenchon wanted a street fight, he lost it, it is his problem”.
