Source for Aftenposten: Jens Stoltenberg is in Oslo

On Friday, Governor Øystein Olsen’s successor will be appointed. One of the two hottest candidates has taken the trip to Oslo, a source tells Aftenposten.

Former Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg (Labor, TV) and current Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre (Labor).

For several months, there has been speculation about who will be the new central bank governor.

The only two real candidates are Deputy Governor Ida Wolden Bache and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

The Ministry of Finance, which decides who will take over, announced earlier this week that the name will be announced on Friday.

On Thursday evening, a source tells Aftenposten that he met Jens Stoltenberg in Oslo earlier the same day.

Aftenposten has asked NATO about Stoltenberg’s calendar for Friday. The request has been rejected.

The term will officially appear in the King’s Council of State at the castle on Friday morning.

Minister of Finance Trygve Slagsvold Vedum (Sp) has convened a press conference with the “central bank governor who will be appointed” on Friday at 1230 in central Oslo.
