YouTube is decreasing qualifying restrictions for the YouTube Partner Program (YPP) and adding paid chat, tipping, channel memberships, and shopping capabilities for smaller producers.
The Verge says that creators can now access the YPP after 500 subscribers, half of YouTube's former requirement.
Instead of 4,000 valid watch hours, artists will need 3,000, or 3 million short views instead of 10 million.
US, UK, Canada, Taiwan, and South Korea will implement these reduced requirements first.
The business also stated that revenue sharing will follow YPP standards, so smaller authors will need to grow their following to get money from ads.
The Verge claims that US YPP users with 20,000 subscribers can now join the retail affiliate program, which was previously invitation-only.
