PSG: Sergio Ramos’ big debut against Manchester City?

This is a great first. More than four months after signing for PSG, Sergio Ramos is in the group of 23 players selected to face Manchester City this Wednesday in the Champions League.

Since his arrival in the capital in early July, the Spanish defender had accumulated physical problems. Repeated injuries (knee, calf) which had already spoiled his last season at Real Madrid, playing only twenty games. Its fragility had also been the subject of debate and created some unease within the club to the point that termination of the contract would have been considered.

But now this is ancient history and everything seems to be about to be sorted out. After resuming team training during the last international break, Sergio Ramos is part of the trip to the north of England with the rest of the squad. It remains to be seen whether he will play his first minutes in the jersey of PSG.

After so much time without competition, he should not start at the kick-off in the Parisian defense. But he could be brought to enter during the game depending on the evolution of the meeting. The Spanish defender is not the only one making his comeback. Absent last weekend against Nantes in the league (3-1), Presnel Kimpembe and Marquinhos are also present, as are Gianluigi Donnarumma and Kylian Mbappé, who did not take part in training on Monday.

At the Etihad Stadium, PSG can win their qualification for the round of 16. Mauricio Pochettino’s men will have their ticket in their pocket in case of success. A draw could even be enough if at the same time Bruges draw or lose at home against Leipzig, last of the group and already eliminated. The Parisians could be qualified even in the event of a loss to the champions of England if Brugge is beaten by the German club.
