A 2 year old baby died in Maintenon (Eure-et-Loir). His father was taken into police custody this Sunday, November 28, for intentional homicide, said the Chartres prosecutor’s office, which does not rule out the accidental cause.
At around 8 am, “a couple presented themselves to the Maintenon fire station, near Chartres, with their two-year-old boy in cardio-respiratory arrest,” said Rémi Coutin, the public prosecutor of Chartres. . The young child “will die soon after”.
The father was taken into police custody for “intentional homicide by descent on a minor under the age of fifteen”. His blood alcohol level was particularly high. The prosecution does not rule out, however, that it is a manslaughter, given the possibility that the baby was “hit and run over by a vehicle possibly belonging to his parents.”
The mother was heard as a witness.
An autopsy must take place Monday morning at the forensic institute of Garches (Hauts-de-Seine). Regarding the investigation, the Chartres public prosecutor’s office co-contacted the Lucé Research Brigade and the Maintenon brigade community.
