Missing 81-year-old woman rescued by two dogs

An 81-year-old woman with Alzheimer’s disease has been found with the help of two dogs.

Monday, November 29, the mayor of the small town of Vignoux-sur-Barangeon, in Cher (18), announced on social networks the “worrying disappearance” of an elderly person.

The woman had left her home to walk her dog, Douguy, around 5 p.m. Immediately, the citizen participation device was triggered at the request of the mayor who asked that the people of the town remain vigilant and warn the gendarmerie at the slightest information.

For their part, the police went in search of the octogenarian, when night had fallen. The soldiers of the community of brigade (COB) of Mehun and the dog team of GIG Bourges were mobilized to try to find her, reports The Republican Berry.

The search dog, Nylson, a Saint-Hubert, found a lead and took the constables to a swampy area. At midnight, the search stopped and the 81-year-old lady had still not been found, despite the reinforcement of a helicopter and a thermal camera.

But the octogenarian was not alone. She was in the company of her dog who stuck to her to warm her and allow her to face the cold.

One dog finds her, the other warms her up

The next morning, Tuesday, November 30, the search resumed. The police dog returned once again to this marshy area. The COB and the soldiers of the surveillance and intervention platoon of the gendarmerie then began to search there. After a few minutes, they finally found the 81-year-old woman.

It is therefore thanks to the help of two dogs that the 81-year-old woman is still alive: that of the gendarmes and Douguy, her own dog.
