This Wednesday, December 29, a Frenchman won 80 million euros at EuroMillions. If he became the 105th French to become a millionaire this year thanks to the lottery, this sum does not allow the lucky winner to enter the European Top 10.
This ranking is however dominated by another French winner, who was won on Friday October 15, 2021 a jackpot reaching the record sum of 220 million euros.
This record amount, since the launch of the lottery in 2004, can be wagered for five consecutive draws, before being necessarily won or shared. “At the end of this cycle, the ceiling will increase by 10 million euros to reach 230 million euros. The same mechanism will apply up to a maximum ceiling of 250 million euros ”, explained the Française des jeux (FDJ) in a statement. This is why it is not excluded that the record of 220 million euros will be exceeded in the coming months.
