Coronavirus in France: the results of this Sunday, January 2

As the fifth wave hits the country, concern is raised about the new Omicron variant. Daily update on the Covid-19 epidemic in France, with figures from Public Health France and the Ministry of Health.


This Sunday, January 2, 58,432 contaminations were recorded in 24 hours.


There are currently 19,043 hospitalized Covid-19 patients (+652 in 24 hours). On the side of critical care services, 101 new hospitalizations were counted on Sunday, for a total of 3,572 people treated in these specialized services in the most serious cases.


In 24 hours, 91 people succumbed to Covid-19 in hospital, bringing the total death toll to 123,942 since the start of the epidemic.


In terms of vaccination, 76.8% of French people (or 51,758,964 people) are fully vaccinated and 78.5% have received at least one injection (or 52,917,231 people).
