Alpes-Maritimes. Feminicide in Nice: judicial information for open murder

The Nice prosecutor’s office favors the track of premeditation. A judicial information for assassination was opened on Monday after the discovery in the trunk of a car on Saturday, in Nice, of the body of a woman.

His ex-boyfriend, aged 60, had presented himself the same evening to the police, declaring to have had an argument with his ex-wife and affirming not to know in what state she was. The sexagenarian had led the police to a garage where a vehicle belonging to his son was stored and in the trunk was the body of the victim, aged 45. The man had been taken into police custody with his son.

He admitted to having strangled the victim

“At this stage of the procedure (…) the victim’s ex-companion (…) admits having strangled the victim following an argument, the reasons for which have yet to be established precisely. These facts are in any event in the wake of a marital separation that took place during the spring of 2021, ”said the Nice prosecutor, Xavier Bonhomme, on Monday.

The man must be presented to an examining magistrate with a view to his indictment. “The requisitions for a committal warrant will be taken by my prosecution in particular to appease the exceptional disturbance caused by the offense thus charged”, added the prosecutor.

Three feminicides in 24 hours

Saturday 1 January already two women, aged 27 and 56, had been stabbed in Maine-et-Loire and Meurthe-et-Moselle.
