What does Kjerkol know that the rest of Europe does not know?

Norway is the only country in Europe with a total ban on alcohol in restaurants.

Minister of Health Ingvild Kjerkol (Labor Party) will not ease the total ban on alcohol in the hotel and restaurant industry.

“Here, thorough assessments have been made in both Norway and other countries about the effect of alcohol on behavior in connection with the pandemic.”

Health director Bjørn Guldvog seemed skeptical in the government’s press conference on 13 December when Aftenposten asked him about the professional basis for refusing people to drink a glass of wine for dinner. Minutes earlier, the government had announced a total alcohol ban in bars, restaurants and hotels.
